PathGen launches as an independent not-for-profit
The PathGen CharterPathGen exists as an independent not-for-profit legal entity, providing a durable institutional home for its regional and global public-health mission. The PathGen Charter defines the core principles guiding the organisation as it grows — including country sovereignty and control, scientific integrity, institutional independence, equity and access, and the responsible use of AI and genomic technologies. The Charter reflects our commitment to building PathGen as a trusted public good: helping countries detect threats earlier, understand them faster and respond more intelligently while preserving the sovereignty and trust on which effective public-health cooperation depends.

· Temasek Shophouse, SingaporeOn 1 December 2025, the first public preview of the PathGen platform was unveiled at the Temasek Shophouse in Singapore, at an event co-hosted by the Duke-NUS Centre for Outbreak Preparedness (COP) and Temasek Foundation. The demonstration showcased how PathGen will combine pathogen surveillance data — including genomic information — with contextual inputs such as population, climate, and mobility data to deliver timely, secure, and actionable decision support for managing infectious disease threats.
More than 100 senior health officials and philanthropic, scientific, and technology partners from across the region joined the preview, engaging in discussions on governance, strategy, and the path towards regional deployment. We look forward to deepening these collaborations as PathGen progresses from proof-of-concept to pilot implementations in 2026, followed by a staged roll-out in the years ahead.

Partner statements
AWS is proud to support PathGen's vital mission of strengthening regional health security while enabling local data governance. Our secure AI and analytics foundation helps countries identify complex outbreak patterns across multiple data sources in ways that respect data residency requirements. By mapping the 'who, where, and how' of emerging threats through technologies like graph databases and advanced AI models, public health officials can better understand transmission patterns and make more informed decisions.
As PathGen's data and AI software engineering partner, IXO is building this next-generation infectious disease intelligence platform to be sovereign-by-design, keep data local, and make AI-assisted decisions secure, explainable, and accountable.
At Sequentia, we are very proud to be part of the group of development partners behind PathGen. This initiative reinforces our belief that advanced bioinformatics analysis of pathogen genomics is essential for effective surveillance and control of infectious diseases, and will have a transformative impact on public health.
PathGen is a compelling example of innovative application of advances in microbial genomics for global public good. The University of Sydney Infectious Diseases Institute is delighted to be part of this consortium that brings together some of the most forward-looking academic and industry partners driven by the shared vision to combine the powers of public health genomics and artificial intelligence to radically improve disease control and knowledge discovery.
